Damage by pyrite, pyrrhotite, vermin or other contaminants

In cases where a structure is exposed to various contaminants, such as pyrite or pyrrhotite, causing a defect of use, EMS engineers can provide its customers with support tailored to their needs, depending on their role and involvement in the events. Thus, EMS will specifically address the needs of the owner, the builder, the various insurers or any other involved party with the following services:

  • Evaluate the impact on the structure and the risk of worsening or successive collapses;
  • Secure the area;
  • Search for the probable causes;
  • Determine the residual capacity and the ability to fulfill the intended use of the structure;
  • Technical analysis under different codes that may be applicable and production of reports for legal purpose;
  • Identify  repair or reconstruction solutions;
  • Produce drawings and specifications for rehabilitation of the structure after the disaster, up to standard or not;
  • Estimate the cost.
