Baie-St-Paul Hospital Seismic Restoration

As part of the seismic restoration of the Hospital of Baie-St-Paul, a major study was conducted to determine the best scenario connected to the seismic securing of the buildings. The study quantified the vulnerability of buildings and propose guiding concepts on different solutions and/or identify additional studies required to enhance the seismic defense of the buildings. It is important to note that the Charlevoix seismic zone is the most severe in Canada. In this regard, it turned out that the scenario chosen was the complete demolition of the buildings making up the hospital complex. Thus, under this scenario, all the logistics surrounding the demolition of the hospital was examined by EMS.
