liquefied biomethane fuelling station

EMS has performed the structural and civil engineering  of the first public liquefied biomethane fuelling station plant in North america. The biogas plant has an area of 504 square meters and has two sequencing batch reactors for the treatment of process water, as well as three outdoor digesters on concrete mats.

A gas purification unit is also present as well as a gas station where liquefied natural gas will come out at a temperature of -160 degrees Celsius. The biogas plant in Rivière-du-Loup has equipments for capturing gases, for receiving organic waste collected from residents, as well as anaerobic digestion, biogas purification and liquefaction biomethane.

The annual production of biomethane from Rivière-du-Loup is estimated at 3 million m3, allowing savings of greenhouse gas emissions by over 7000 tonnes.
