Clock Jura - Grounds of Quebec City Hall

Quebec City has received a gift of the Republic and Canton of Jura in Switzerland, as part of its 400th anniversary, a clock designed by Richard Mille company specializing in high-end watchmaking, in collaboration with the School of technical trades Porrentury and Upper School Arc.

The project was to install and protect the imposing clock Jura from a height of 3.5 meters, 2.7 meters wide by 1.4 meters deep on the grounds of City Hall, above block parking services of the Hotel de Ville, in the Borough of La Cité-Limoilou.

To do this, so we had to build a steel structure with visor for laterally retaining the huge glass cage to house the clock and a reinforced concrete base detached from the existing parking structure to prevent transmission of vibrations. An airlock with access from below was also provided to ensure a controlled environment, maintaining stable climatic conditions (temperature, humidity, vibration, etc.) to allow access for maintenance of the clock.

In order to ensure the overall quality of the site and architectural continuity on the grounds of the City Hall, the design of the facility should be consistent with the sector. Neighboring outdoor amenities such as pedestrian circulation and landscaping thus an integral part of the project and they had to integrate with flowerbeds in progress.
