Bourdages/Victoria footbridge

The project consisted of the construction of a wooden bridge pedestrian above the Saint-Charles River between Bourdages Street and Victoria Park in the borough of La Cité-Limoilou Quebec City. The bridge is cable stayed and has a span of 53 meters. The structural system used comprises a mast consists of 2 glued laminated wood columns of 900 mm in diameter connected to the head by a steel cap. 10 steel cables (5 sets of 2 cables) leave from the masthead and support the deck. The mast is held at the rear by two steel cables anchored in a concrete block. The abutments are of reinforced concrete and are based on steel piles. The deck of the bridge consists of two main beams in glulam underpinning of cross-laminated timber panels (CLT) and decking. A sealing system between the CLT panels and decking protects structural components of the deck. The bike path and amenities nearby approaches were also included in the project.
